Hi traders,
We have recently been asked by several users: “How can I continue practicing on Optimus Flow after I open a live account?”.
We wanted to provide users with a step-by-step guide on how to use Optimus Flow’s built in simulator feature, even after opening a live account. See instructions below! (please keep in mind that if you are using the Optimus Futures feed, the simulator feature requires level 2 market depth - if you do not have level 2 data as an Optimus Futures data feed user, the simulation fills will be delayed by 10 minutes. Rithmic and CQG users can use the simulator with level 1 data)
Optimus Flow has a built-in simulator. However, it does not use a separate set of credentials – do NOT log in on this screen to demo because it will not work with your live account credentials:
You do not need a separate set of credentials to simulate within Optimus Flow and it requires your live account to be connected. Your first step is to login with the live account credentials we provided over email, placing them in the login box as shown in the image above under “REAL”. Once your live account shows it’s status as connected, please continue following the steps below.
- First you need to open Main menu of Optimus flow by clicking the Optimus Flow logo in the top left corner of your platform. Then open the Trading Simulatorr panel (TRS -trading simulator in the main menu):
- Add the symbol of your choice that you want to practice with by clicking the + button in the top left of the simulator window. A new line will appear, which will prompt you to add your symbol. You can click the + button multiple times to add multiple symbols. Once all of your symbols are added, then click START. (you cannot click start if any of the symbol fields are blank):
Once you start the simulator it should similar to this:
- Once the simulation is active, navigate to the symbol search bar in the top left of your chart, order entry ticket or DOM (wherever you want to place your orders) and you will find a new section at the top of the list called “Trading simulator” with the contract you just added:
You need to setup every chart, order entry ticket or DOM that you want to place orders through the simulator this way. Once you have followed these steps, you can confirm you are in the simulator by checking these two things:
The top left of your chart will have a blue simulator label AND more importantly, the “account field” of the chart or DOM you set this up through will show ACCOUNT (USD) instead of your live account number.
If you see your Live account number in the same panel you are placing orders through, it means the orders are being submitted as real live orders. Any orders placed through panels that display the account field as: ACCOUNT (USD) will be internally simulated through the Optimus Flow Trading Simulator.
We hope you find these instructions helpful if you are planning on using Optimus Flows Trading Simulator feature!
Best,
Jake
