Rithmic Market Data Billing Update and how to Avoid Professional Fees with Concurrent Logins

Attention Optimus Community Members and all Rithmic users,

In its current state and for quite some time, Rithmic has had the ability to login to multiple locations and platforms concurrently for no additional charge. Beginning May 1, 2020, the CME Group is requiring that market data distributors (Rithmic is a market data distributor), report the number of concurrent logins each market data subscriber is permitted to access the CME Group’s market data. The CME group is also requiring that a market data subscriber that is permitted to maintain more than 2 (3+) concurrent market data logins be reported as a professional market data subscriber. In addition to this and by default, each user will now only be entitled to one session. For every additional session that is added for an individual, they will incur an extra set of market data fees.

Just to clarify this and for example, if a user has a Max Session Count of 2 and is enabled for all 4 CME Group exchanges (CME Bundle) at $30 per month. You will multiply the $30 market data charge by the Max Session Count of 2 for a total of $60 per month. Market data charges x Max Session Count = Monthly market data charges.

In order to avoid any additional fees and to avoid being charged as a professional market data subscriber, Rithmic has proposed a new change to its platform, R Trader Pro, which would allow this platform to act as a “central hub” for your Rithmic login.

At this time, plug-ins to apps that login for real-time market data do not incur additional market data subscription fees. Consequently, Rithmic will be modifying R | Trader Pro to accept plug-ins and will be modifying Rithmic’s R | API+ and R | Protocol API to connect to R | Trader Pro, provided that apps that connect to R | Trader Pro run on the same machine as R | Trader Pro. We’ve created a video about this process and described the entire process at length. Please take a look at the video below on how to use R Trader Pro as a plug-in to avoid concurrent login charges and professional fees:

These new changes will begin to affect all Rithmic users starting on the 1st of May, so we wanted to inform you now so you are aware and can adjust accordingly. If you have any questions about these new changes, don’t hesitate to reach out and we will gladly explain them to you!

Thanks for your time and prompt attention to these matters,
Jake

stupid question but is there a limit to the number of connections that can connect to the r|trader plugin? e.g. can I easily use jigsaw, bookmap, ninja all connected to the same account via the r|trader plugin, without issue?

Hi @ycomp,

Thanks for your question. As long as you are using the R Trader Pro plugin, as far as I know, you can connect to as many concurrent connections as you like without additional charges are issues.

In the event you do run into an issue, you can ask your broker to increase your max concurrent login sessions and max concurrent order routing sessions which should alleviate any issues!

The only event where an issue would arise when it comes to charges and being charged as a professional would be if you logged into multiple platforms like you mentioned without the use of R Trader Pro’s plugin. Either way and at least through our brokerage, we do not allow this without a request and all users will be limited to one platform at a time to avoid any mistakes or incorrect charges.

I hope this clears things up!
Jake
