VIX Futures Margins (why do they vary from one FCM to another)

My currenct broker charges 5X margin for VIX Futures. What is the policy in your firm?

Hello @rufftrade and thank you for your question.

We respect the fact that other FCMs, IBs, and brokers may set their own futures margins requirements outside the exchange requirements. They may feel that based on the risk of the contract, liquidity and other factors that they wish to increase margins. We reserve the same right in general or for specific customers.

Optimus Futures at the moment does not charge above exchange margins for VIX contracts. However, we would require to know the number of positions you hold before account opening.
